CSA Online First

CSA Online First is a weekly blog featuring insights from CSA members themselves.

Edited by Rita Agarwal, MD, FAAP, with contributions from CSA’s Committee on Professional and Public Communications, Online First is a place where knowledge and opinion from any one of our 3200 plus physician-anesthesiologist members can be shared, discussed and deliberated to advance the specialty of anesthesiology, the practice of medicine and society in general.

"Better solutions to difficult problems are usually made when all sides are heard."

CSA 2019 online nominations for new directors, and delegates

levin_philip_90x125Today, I have the special privilege of announcing the opening of the online nomination period for CSA’s 2019 election, marking the culmination of CSA’s redistricting implementation. This year’s nomination and elections process will be different from years past, so I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the new changes prior to submitting nominations.

The origins of CSA’s redistricting efforts

CSA’s redistricting efforts are the result of a 2018 market research study, commissioned by CSA’s Board of Directors, which found that CSA members prioritized state level advocacy and desired information and resources to better manage their practice. The result is a two-pronged approach to member representation--redrawn geographic districts to align with state legislative districts and six new mode-of-practice forums to help provide you with the resources you need to build your practice.

Opportunities for district and practice forum leadership

This year, CSA members will be electing new directors and delegates for their geographic districts and practice forums. If you’ve ever been interested in becoming a CSA director or delegate, I highly encourage you to consider submitting a self-nomination. As a new director or delegate, you can help shape the future of CSA’s new districts and practice forums, help ensure their success, and serve your society, fellow physician anesthesiologists, and patients.

Members interested in nominating should first visit the CSA 2019 nominations homepage, where you can find more information about the districts and forums, the number of delegates allocated for each, and a description of the roles and responsibilities for the new directors and delegates.

Finally, I would like to sincerely commend the valuable leadership and many contributions of the current district directors and delegates. Their approval of CSA’s redistricting plan demonstrates their commitment to placing the priorities of our fellow members above their own standing in the organization.

If you have any questions about the nomination process, geographic districts, or mode-of-practice forums, please contact CSA Associate Executive Director Matt Peralta at mperalta@csahq.org or (916) 290-5830.
