GETTING STARTED
The curriculum vitae (“life history”) serves as one of the most documents you will create related to your professional career. It is formatted very differently from a resume that is commonly used by business professionals. CVs can be fairly short (1-2 pages) or very lengthy for physicians who have been working for many years and document their vast list of accomplishments.
For a resident or fellow who is applying for their 1st anesthesiology job after completing your training, you will typically be able to describe the most vital information within 2-3 pages. If you are applying for an academic position, it may need to be longer and more comprehensive, particularly as you will need to include more detail on educational and scholarly activity.
Important details that always need to be included are the following:
- Address
- Phone
- Postgraduate Training
- Education
- State Licensure information
- Board Certification Status
- Publications
