General Anesthesiologist – Santa Rosa – Full Time

This is a full-time, on-site position for a general anesthesiologist. Located in Santa Rosa, CA, about 1hr north of San Francisco in Sonoma County Wine Country. We are the northernmost hospital in the Kaiser Permanente Northern California System, and the largest healthcare provider in the country.

The physician will be employed (W2) by The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), a physician-owned and led multispecialty medical group. Serving Northern California, we have ~10K physicians and ~45K nurses and staff. TPMG is universally recognized as one of the leading medical groups in the country, partnering exclusively with Kaiser Permanente to provide healthcare to over 4.5 million patients.

Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Hospital: Midsize community hospital
Team: 13 physician anesthesiologists + ~25 CRNAs in a care team model
Work mix: 1/3 solo cases, 2/3 supervision – great experience balance for those right out of training.

Case Mix:
Bread and Butter Surgery (orthopedics, general surgery, urology, plastics, ENT, breast surgery)
Pediatrics: Healthy ASA 1 & 2 patients > 1 yr old (ear tubes, T&As, dental)
OB: ~150-180 deliveries/month, TOLACs, 2 dedicated L&D ORs
No cardiac, no thoracic, no neuro, no spine, no trauma
Limited NORA, however with plans to expand NORA coverage in the future
Clinical time split between a main hospital and ambulatory surgery center. No midday travel between sites

Schedule and Call
– 1:10 call for physician anesthesiologists
– No trauma. In-house OB coverage with TOLAC service. In-house team comprised of one physician anesthesiologist + CRNA. Backup provider at home. OR team is on call-in basis
– Weekday call hours: 3p-7a
– Weekend/Holiday call: 24hr call
– Flexible scheduling with the ability to accommodate prior requests, swap shifts, per diem coverage available.

Compensation and Benefits
Salaried W2 position starting at ~$450,000 (based on 40hr work week) + minimum 3% annual COLA adjustments (often more) as well as intermittent market-rate adjustments + bonus after becoming senior partner
CME: Up to $5000/yr reimbursement for CME-eligible expenses
Licensure: All fees associated with licensure, maintenance of board certification, DEA are 100% covered (not part of CME allowance)
PTO: approx 10-11 weeks paid off per year (with flexibility to increase/decrease with approval)
