Congratulations to our 1st Place Winner for the CSA Oral Competition, Da’Jhai Monroe

Da’Jhai Monroe is a third-year medical student at Howard University College of Medicine and deeply passionate about anesthesiology. Leaving her hometown in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Da’Jhai earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Spelman College with a personal study of Spanish language. At Howard, Da’Jhai demonstrates leadership as Secretary of the Student Government Association, Social Chair of the Latino Medical Student Association, and Vice President of the Anesthesiology and Critical Care Society. Her commitment to mentorship and community health are exhibited by her service to McKinley Technical High School’s Anesthesia Fair and Howard’s student-run New Freedman’s Clinic. In recognition of her work ethic, she was honored as the Scholarship Awardee of the Auxiliary to the Medico-Chirurgical Society of the District of Columbia for her dedication to leadership, service, and scholarship. Currently, she engages in anesthesiology and perioperative outcomes research at Howard University Hospital. Da’Jhai nurtures her creativity outside of medicine by scrapbooking, biking, and traveling with family and friends. Da’Jhai plans to apply for an anesthesiology residency, aiming to nurture her interest in pain medicine and pharmacology.
