Please join me in recognizing the volunteers who came out for UCLA Project Lead the Way outreach visits this month– Drs. Daddario, Hernandez-Morgan, Jaishankar, Patton, Philippine, Sacks, Salehi, and Sumida.
Each lead engaging hands-on workshops teaching nearly 100 Los Angeles area high school students about our specialty and the life-saving maneuvers to maintain circulation and breathing that we practice on a daily basis. Your ability to connect, inspire, and teach these students is exceptional and reflected in the feedback after each visit.
Below are pictures of the students that are reflective of a truly impactful experience!
From our teachers:
- “Thank you so much for sharing your time and expertise in a way that is so completely accessible to our high school students. Seeing them engaged in your hands-on experiences is always so rewarding. You empower them to imagine a future for themselves in the health sciences, and we are so grateful for this continued partnership! We also appreciate the time, effort, and planning that all go into making this event happen. Thank you — again — from the bottom of our hearts!”
From our students:
- “You all have such great advice and are so easy to talk to, making all of us feel welcomed and engaged in the activities and information being shared. I am so grateful that I get to have these experiences so available to me and I know everyone else is as well.”
- “It is always so amazing to be able to learn directly from doctors themselves and thank you so much for taking the time to be here.”
- “Thank you so much for coming to our school and sharing your time and knowledge with us. Learning about what the UCLA anesthesiology team does and what they are passionate about was such an incredible experience. It was so cool to be able to practice saving and helping out a human body. I loved how hands on this experience was because it made it so much more interesting to be able to actually learn how to treat a human. Once again, once again, thank you so much!”
- “Overall, it was a very exciting experience, and I may consider actually going into anesthesiology as a career. It seems like a very interesting field to go into!
For those who are interested in volunteering in the future, please consider coming out for the winter visits in Feb (sign up email coming soon) or the field trip to UCLA in May. If you are on the fence, I’d love to answer any questions to encourage your involvement.
Thank you,
