Together, We’re Moving CSA Forward
It was wonderful to see so many of our members come together in Sacramento this past weekend for the CSA House of Delegates. The HOD is an important part of CSA governance, giving our members an opportunity to come together, discuss the issues affecting our specialty, and help shape the future of our organization. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the thoughtful discussions throughout the weekend.
One discussion that stood out to me was the introduced Resolution addressing paid sick leave for anesthesiology residents. The House approved referring the issue to a task force for further review and development, with representation from program chairs, residency program directors, residents, and other CSA stakeholders. The task force will consider how CSA can best support resident physicians and promote fairness, wellness, and consistency in residency training.
Since the House of Delegates, we’ve already had important conversations about engaging more medical students in CSA and creating meaningful opportunities for them to become involved with our Society early in their careers. I am excited to continue building on that momentum and making CSA a place where medical students, residents, and early-career anesthesiologists feel welcomed and connected.
Our Practice Management Committee is continuing its work on the development of title transparency and badging, an important effort to help patients better understand the roles and credentials of the professionals involved in their care.
Following the HOD, I am honored to be representing CSA at the ASAE Exceptional Board training in Austin, Texas, alongside Executive Director Megan MacNee and CSA President-Elect John Hsieh, MD. We are looking forward to bringing what we learn back to CSA as we continue strengthening our governance and serving our members.
Thank you again to everyone who participated in the House of Delegates. I am honored to serve as your President and look forward to working with all of you in the year ahead. There is a lot of important work to be done, and I am excited about what we can accomplish together.
