Update on Committee/Task Force Activities
The Committee on Leadership Development and Nominations (CoLDaN) has two major responsibilities: first, to assist with the development of leaders in anesthesiology from California; and second, to nominate officers for specific positions as described in the CSA bylaws. The committee considers these two responsibilities to be overlapping and complementary. During the past governance year, we have held seven virtual committee meetings. CoLDaN will be holding additional meetings in July and August with a focus on supporting the development of future leaders in our specialty. As Past President, I served as Chair of CoLDaN this year. The other members of the committee this year are Drs. Gerard Dang, Linda Hertzberg, Robin Seaberg, Jeffrey Rusheen, Mark Zakowski, Genevieve D’Souza, and Philip Levin who is a non-voting member as Immediate Past President and will become Chair in the next governance year.
Recommendations for the Board to Consider
In choosing our nominations, the committee considered multiple factors, including but not limited to: individual qualifications and leadership experience within and outside CSA; knowledge of the top challenges facing anesthesiologists in California; vision for CSA; timing of the nomination for the individual and the society; and succession planning for current role(s). We are fortunate to have exceptional candidates to choose from within CSA, and we expect great things from them when they are called to serve.
