The California Society of Anesthesiologists congratulates Dr. Anita Gupta, DO, MPP, PharmD, FASA on a significant milestone for women physicians. On July 9, 2026, Dr. Gupta received an official Proclamation from Assembly Member Dr. Darshana Patel designating February 3, 2027, as “Women in Medicine Day” in San Diego. Dr. Gupta was also presented with a Distinguished Women in Medicine Award from the California Legislature.
In partnership with Dr. Patel, Dr. Gupta developed this initiative to address rising burnout rates among women physicians. The proclamation highlights the need for systemic support and cultural change so that those who care for others are better supported in caring for themselves.

Dr. Gupta was joined at the ceremony by Dr. Yolanda Marzan, President of the ASMG, the largest private physician anesthesiologist group in the United States. Efforts are already underway to expand this recognition statewide.
