Five mornings with eight national experts, built around the questions clinicians are facing right now: GLP-1 agonists and preoperative fasting, pediatric NPO practice, neuromuscular blockade, perioperative stroke, AI in perioperative care, and the economics of sustainability. Sessions are interactive, evidence-based, and designed to change what you do on Monday. Afternoons are yours. New this year: a family reception on Tuesday evening.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Articulate patient safety aspects of preoperative medication management, serious adverse drug reactions, sedation in non-OR locations, and neuromuscular block.
- Highlight impacts of perioperative buprenorphine management on anesthesia care and patient outcomes.
- Appraise the benefits and financial aspects of sustainability endeavors in the care of patients in the peri-anesthesia period.
- Identify safety considerations, risks related to higher BMI and preferred anesthetic and analgesic drugs for obese patients scheduled for ambulatory care.
- Understand the impact of anesthesia on consciousness and awareness.
- Discuss safety considerations in adult patients with congenital heart disease scheduled for routine non-cardiac surgical procedures.
- Appraise current evidence for the use of AI in optimizing multimodal analgesia.
- Understand the complexity of and implications for clinical care in Parkinson’s disease patients needing anesthesia care.
- Appreciate the gap between knowledge and practice in management of neuromuscular blockade in anesthesia, and the risks of not closing the gap.
- Evaluate the evidence for and against anesthetic neurotoxicity at the extremes of age.
- Discuss the risks and management of perioperative stroke.
- Understand the challenges and approaches to successfully implementing patient safety initiatives.
